LAHORE, Nov 8: The Punjab Population Welfare Department will train 10,000 ulema, khateebs and women religious scholars for creating awareness about family planning among general public.

Stating this while talking to delegations of women here on Wednesday, Population Welfare Minister Nasim Lodhi said the training programme would start from Okara district from Friday.

Some 3,000 ulema would be trained in the first phase who would train other ulema in 29 districts. The plan would be launched in the remaining six districts next month. She said a `less children better living’ had also been launched at a cost of Rs7 million for creating awareness about family planning by displaying eye-catching billboards.
