KARACHI, Nov 8: The Sindh High Court on Wednesday issued notices to two Rangers officials for allegedly harassing a hosiery factory owner in the Federal ‘B’ Industrial Area.
Petitioner Salahuddin Malik submitted through Advocate Nihal Hashmi that a colonel and a deputy superintendent of Shahbaz Rangers based in North Nazimabad were threatening him on behalf of a machinery supplier of Faisalabad. He claimed that he had made full and final payment to seller Imtiaz of Faisalabad.
In any case, it was none of the Rangers’ business to interfere in a trade of money dispute. Yet the two officials had made it impossible for him to run his factory. They have threatened to pick up the entire factory staff and labour force, as a result of which he had to close down the concern.
A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Faisal Arab, issued notices to the respondents for Nov 24.
SHRINE’S DEMOLITION: The High Court of Sindh adjourned the proceedings in a case seeking directives to restrain demolition of a mosque, madressah and a shrine coming in the alignment of the Lyari Expressway Project (LEP) till Nov 23, add agencies.
A constitutional petition was moved by Qadri Masjid Trust seeking directives for concerned authorities against orders to demolish the Qadri Mosque, madressah and the shrine of Pir Syed Kifayat Ali Shah at PIB Colony.
The division bench, comprised Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmani and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah.
Shoukat Ali Sheikh submitted that the mosque, the madressah and the shrine were constructed in accordance with the approval granted by the then deputy commissioner while NOC for construction for the same was also provided by the authorities concerned.
The bench also observed whether it is possible to use any alternate way, like, construction of an overhead bridge, which could be used to avoid the demolition of the mosque, madressah and the shrine.
