FAISALABAD, Nov 6: University of Agriculture vice-chancellor Dr Bashir Ahmed has stressed the need for strengthening the seed and water management, post harvest, storage, marketing and value addition products to cope with the current era challenges.

He was addressing a meeting convened in connection with the technology transfer and commercialisation of products on Monday.

He said the country would have to take measures regarding patent food products, including Basmati rice, mango, cotton and other items as western world had monopolised the technologies.

He said all applicable technologies developed in the institution should be handed over to farmers and growers in order to resolve the problems of agriculture sector.

A 37-member evaluation committee had been constituted which would submit its proposals regarding technology transfer and commercialisation, Dr Bashir said and added that different sectors had been identified for practical work.
