SIALKOT, Nov 6: Businessmen and exporters have provided a special grant of 130,000 Euros from the Sialkot City Development Package (SCDP) fund for early establishment of an engineering university.

During a meeting of the SCDP management held here on Monday, the business community reviewed the pace of various ongoing uplift projects in the city.

District Nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema presided over the meeting.

Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) president Sheikh Abdul Waheed Sandal, SVP Dr Sarfraz Bashir, Pakistan Sports Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PSGMEA) chairman Sheikh Safdar Sandal, Sialkot Dry Port Trust chairman Mehboob A Sheikh, Pakistan Gloves Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PGMEA) chief Muhammad Younas and central chairman of Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PLGMEA) Ahmad Zulfiqar Hayyat were also present.

The meeting was told that construction work on 500-acre engineering university situated at main Sialkot-Sambrial-Wazirabad Road would be started shortly in collaboration with the Swedish government under the supervision of SCCI.

The meeting was told that Sweden would also provide complete technical assistance for this purpose.
