Qubilai shines

LAHORE, Nov 5: Four-goal Shah Qubilai Alam inspired Lahore Chatkharas to win PPL Polo Cup with a 6-4 1/2 win over Free Lancers in the final on Sunday.

The losers, who had one and half goal handicap, led the first chukker 2 1/2-2 as Azhar Ali converted a 30-yard penalty hit. Qubilai banged home to score his first on a 40-yard penalty hit.The winners reduced the lead to 3 1/2-3 in the second chukker as Moin Yaqub scored on a solo field goal while Qubilai also struck a field goal to earn his second. Kasim Ahmad Khan found the target for the losers.

The third chukker saw Free Lancers maintained the half goal lead (4 1/2-4) as boths scored one apiece. Qubilai scored on a field attempt. Ibrahim Pataudi scored for the losers.

Chatkharas eventually turned the table over Free Lancers in the fourth chukker scoring back-to-back goals. Qubilai, capitalised on a 60-yard penalty hit to score his fourth. Moin blasted home with a field goal to seal the match.
