ISLAMABAD, Nov 4: The Indus River System Authority has increased water share of Punjab and Sindh for Rabi crop, sources said. The sources said the decision was taken on a request of the two provinces. Punjab will get 25,000 cusec additional water and Sindh 5,000 cusec. Sindh and Punjab will now receive 40,000 cusec and 65,000 cusec water, respectively.
The water will be provided to the provinces from Nov 15 to 20, and then they will get their allocated share.
The Irsa advisory committee has declared 14 per cent shortage of water for Rabi and the provinces are meeting the shortage through rotation programmes.—Online
