RAWALPINDI, Nov 3: Fine display of bowling from left-arm pacer Jamshed Ahmed (5 for 47) skittled Khan Research Laboratories for a paltry 103 in their first innings after they were put into bat by PIA on the opening day of their Patron’s Trophy clash here on Friday.

Jamshed was in lethal form with the ball and with good support from Najaf Shah (2 for 26) at the other end, ripped through the KRL batting to dismiss them for 103 on a bouncy track at the KRL Stadium.

Dashing all rounder Yasir Arafat was the only player who took the attack to the PIA bowlers in a defiant knock of 63 while pacer Abdul Rauf chipped in with a quickfire 25.

The airliners, however, tasted a bit of their own medicine in their first outing when they lost their top four players for just 44, thanks to an incisive spell from Yasir who finished the day with impressive figures of 4 for 44 from 14 overs. Rauf bagged the other two wickets to fall.

Test all-rounder Shoaib Malik, with a typically sound unbeaten innings of 50, rescued PIA who were 128 for 6 at the stumps with only a slender lead of 25.
