MULTAN, Nov 1: A man impersonating as highway patrol SP befooled the Lodhran police, used official vehicle and escort for several days and was exposed only after he kidnapped a stage actress from a Kehror Pucca theatre.

According to details, Shehzad Butt visited Ladhran DPO during Eid holidays and introduced himself as SP highway patrol, Rawalpindi. The DPO gave him an official vehicle and escort.

The `SP’ along with his friends Safdar Arain, Amin Bhatti, Hasnain Baloch and Mukhtar Hussain visited Nagina Theater in Kehror Pucca a few days ago. After watching a dance he went backstage and threatened the entire cast and the producer that he would arrest them for obscenity.

“His threat forced the entire team to leave the scene except me,” actress Saima told Dawn. She said she could not leave as she had the main role in the play.

She said the `SP’ and friends, who were all drunk, `kidnapped’ her.

“On the way they received a massage from police control and dropped me at a police post.”

Kehror Pucca police have meanwhile registered two cases against the accused after it learnt that he was an impersonator and arrested him from Lahore. His accomplices have also been arrested.
