SUKKUR, Oct 30: Police killed an alleged bandit and injured the other after a brief encounter in Soomro Muhalla of Budani near Kandhkot late on Sunday night. Reports reaching here said that family members opened fire on a group of armed dacoits when they tried to flee after looting valuable household items and buffaloes from the house of Ali Hassan Soomro.

Budani police rushed to the house after hearing the shots and killed a dacoit, Ghazi son of Bhoro Budani Jatoi, and injured his accomplice, Nadir Budani Jatoi, in the ensuing encounter. The rest of the gang managed to escape.

Police shifted the body and injured dacoit to hospital. They, however, claimed that the injured Nadir was wanted to police in many cases.
