DADU, Oct 30: A minor girl and a woman died and 25 others were hospitalised on Monday following an outbreak of as gastroenteritis in Duri Daro village of Sehwan taluka.

Two-year-old Koonjh, daughter of Soomar Halepoto and Shamshad, 35, wife of Nawab Halepoto died of gastroenteritis.

Mohammad Sharif Manthar, Sikandar, Ms Waziran, Ms Aamnat, Ms Shabbiran, Arif, Ms Jannat, Ms Gulshan, Ms Begum, Mir Mohammad, Ms Zahida, Habibullah, Juman, Sharifan, Suman, Shama, Shabana, and others were admitted to Sehwan taluka hospital.

A minor girl, Kazbano and Soni were admitted to Bhan Syedabad hospital.

The Medical Officer of Sehwan taluka hospital, Dr Mohammad Juman, said that condition of all 23 patients was stable.

The Executive District Officer Health, Jamshoro, Dr Ali Akbar Dahiri, visited Duri Daro village situated in UC Talti.

The taluka health officer Sehwan, Dr Moinuddin, confirmed the death of two patients in Duri Daro village.

He said a medical team has been sent to the affected village. Three samples of water from underground resources were taken from the village and were sent to LUMHS, Jamshoro and Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam for laboratory tests.

PALIJO: The President of Awami Tehrik, Rasool Bux Palijo, has said that two islands near Karachi were property of Sindhi people.

Addressing a party meeting of district Dadu in Khairpur Nathan Shah on Monday, Mr Palijo said that the federal government was out to sell the entire land of Sindh.

The AT chief said that time was ripe for a campaign against the government and urged the people of Sindh to unite.

He said that poverty graph was going up as a result of wrong policies of the government.

Among others, Syed Lal Shah and Mumtaz Bhand, also spoke on the occasion.

CLASH: Nine people were injured in an armed clash between two rival groups over land dispute in Kandichakhi village, Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka, on Monday.

Deadly arms including guns were used freely in the clash.

Roshan Ali Chandio, Mohammad Asif Chandio, Habibullah Chandio, Mohammad Ibrahim Chandio, Gulsher Qambrani, Gul Mohammad Qambrani, Mohammad Qambrani, Shaman Qambrani and Mohammad Suleman Qambrani were injured, who were taken to the taluka hospital Khairpur Nathan Shah.

The Khairpur Nathan Shah police have registered an FIR against 15 people from both groups.

SPRAY: The District health department of Jamshoro carried out spray as preventive measures of dengue virus and malaria on Monday.
