Sherpao sees foreign hands in blasts

Published October 30, 2006

PESHAWAR, Oct 29: Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has rejected any possibility of involvement of Al Qaeda in Peshawar bomb blasts, stressing that foreign hands were involved in subversive acts.

He was talking to newsmen after attending a public ceremony here in Charsadda on Sunday.

He said that the government had concreet evidence of involvement of foreign hands in the bomb blasts in Peshawar.

“They are aimed at spreading fear and fright in the area,” he added.

Answering to a question, he said that Al Qaeda’s involvement in the blasts is out of chance because these blasts were not targeted.

He added that law enforcement agencies were further investigating the case and the facts would soon be highlighted to the media.—Online
