Egypt boosts border security

ISMAILIA (Egypt), Oct 28: Egypt beefed up security along its border with the Gaza Strip after an Israeli daily said Israel may bomb tunnels used for smuggling weapons into the Palestinian territories, security officials said on Saturday.

They said at least 750 members of the police’s central security force joined a similar number of border guards already deployed along the area known as the Philadelphi Corridor, fearing the possible operation’s impact on civilians living on the Egyptian side of the border.—Reuters
