Published October 28, 2006

LAHORE, Oct 27: Hasnat Ahmad Khan and Iqbal Hameedur Rahman are the two new judges inducted into the Lahore High Court. The number of high court judges has risen to 36 with the induction of two new judges. However, there is still shortage of 14 judges against the sanctioned strength of 50.

The notification of their appointment was issued here on Friday. Justice Rehman is the son of the late chief justice of Pakistan Justice Hamoodur Rehman who headed a commission to probe the causes of the fall of Dhaka in 1971. He is running his law chamber on Fane Road.

Justice Khan is from the law chamber of former federal law minister and Senator Dr Khalid Ranjha with whom he started his career as a Lahore High Court lawyer.

They will hold the office as additional judges for one year. The oath-taking ceremony will be held next week.
