Irfan helps Umar CC win title

KARACHI, Oct 24: Off-spinner Irfanuddin bowled a brilliant spell to help Umar CC win the inaugural Southend Twenty20 Ramazan cricket trophy at the Southend Club Ground on Monday.

Irfan grabbed six for 24 to skittle out the star-studded KESC for just 108 in the final. Veteran Arif Mahmood score 31.

Umar CC achieved victory by three wickets after making 110 for seven in 19.2 overs with youngsters Khalid Latif (32) and Khurram Manzoor (21) the main scorers.

Skipper Nadeem Umar collected the winners’ trophy and Rs50,000 while KESC skipper Arif Mahmood received the runners-up trophy and a cash award of Rs20,000.

Irfan was declared Man-of-the-Final as well as the tournament’s best bowler. Team-mate Khalid Latif won the best batsman award, Sarfraz Ahmed of KESC was adjudged the best fielder while Nayab CC’s Yasir Farooq clinched the best player prize.
