Religion not an issue: Younis

Published October 25, 2006

MOHALI, Oct 24: Pakistan cricket captain, Younis Khan on Tuesday said religion was not an issue within the team. “We are all Muslims in the team. So where does the question of forcing anyone to follow religious practicea arises?”

Younis, talking to reporters, said all the players are free to practice religious beliefs as they liked and nothing was being forced on them.

Meanwhile, Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer on Tuesday tried to brush aside captaincy row saying both Inzamam and Younis share a good relationship as captain and vice-captain of team. “Younis has done well but it would not be right to compare the captains.”

Younis hoped his side would get local support in the two matches against New Zealand and South Africa despite not many Pakistan fans coming to watch the matches.— Agencies
