Arrested

DERA GHAZI KHAN, Oct 24: Police arrested some 43 proclaimed offenders and absconders during a two-hour general hold-up in the city on Monday night.

According to officials, check posts were set up at different exit points of the city and other points inside the town where 1,400 vehicles were checked and 20 of them were impounded from 9pm to 11pm.Two pistols, four rifles, 30 cartridges and some quantity of hashish were recovered from the accused.

Six cases have been registered against the accused.

The DPO said the police had held general hold-ups for three consecutive days a few days ago, during which 86 proclaimed offenders and absconders were arrested and seven pistols, eight rifles and 70 cartridges were recovered from them.—APP
