MUZAFFARABAD, Oct 22: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan has directed the authorities concerned to enhance funds for the speedy development of the social sectors.

Presiding over a meeting of the Coordination Council for Rural Development, the prime minister said special attention would be paid to roads. In all the Legislative Assembly constituencies, about 45km of roads would be metalled to achieve speedy progress, he said.

The PM underlined the need to ensure use of a device which works through a satellite system for the provision of water in the rural areas, so that besides meeting the potable water needs, enough water could be obtained for construction, animals and daily use purposes.

Sardar Attique said sources of water could be detected exactly with a low-cost de-bacteria device system.

He said every assistant director in the local government and rural development department should have the device.

The premier increased the funds to be provided for social sector development from Rs3 million to Rs8 million for every constituency.

He directed the authorities to reserve Rs5 million more for the constituencies close to the Line of Control so that the development process there could be brought at par with other areas.

The meeting decided to allocate Rs24 million for the constituencies where improvement in literacy rate was required.

Sardar Attique directed the authorities to reserve Rs5 million for the 12 constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir refugees in various areas of Pakistan.—APP
