GUJRANWALA, Oct 22: The education department has issued final notices to over 914 private institutions for registration within a month otherwise legal action will be taken against owners.

This was revealed here on Saturday in a survey conducted by the education department.

When contacted executive district officer (education) Raja Khadim Husain said notices had been served on 719 boys and 195 girls institutes.

He said the owners had been directed to get their institutions registered within a month otherwise they would be taken to task.

CONSTABLE HURT: A drug peddler attacked a police party and injured a constable during an encounter in Kamoki on Sunday.

Reports said a team, led by an ASI, raided the vegetable market to arrest Ilyas. On seeing the police, he opened fire, injuring constable Asghar Ali. He was rushed to civil hospital in a critical condition.

Saddar police have registered a case and are investigating.

SNAKE BITE: A landlord died from snake bite in Lallupur Wahando on Sunday.

Reports said Chaudhry Zakaullah was working at his fields when a snake bit him. He was rushed to Kamoki civil hospital where he died.
