ISLAMABAD, Oct 21: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and president of the ruling PML Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain have decided to get the women’s protection bill passed in the next session of the National Assemly, commencing from Oct 30.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the PML leaders at the Prime Minister’s House here on Saturday.

The meeting also discussed other issues, including the overall domestic political situation, upcoming general elections, the next assembly session and other matters of mutual interest.

Sources in the ruling party said that the prime minister and Chaudhry Shujaat condemned the Peshawar bomb blast. Reiterating the government’s resolve not to falter in its commitment to curb terrorism, they termed it an anti-state act and said that severe action would be taken against the culprits behind the blast.

Prime Minister said that reactivation and streamlining of the party cadre would enable it to win the next general elections with overwhelming majority. They said that the party would contest the election by taking along coalition partners.

The sources said that the two leaders also discussed the impact of Benazir Bhutto and Nawa Sharif meeting on the domestic political situation.

Chaudhry Shujaat said that the PML was not worried about the meeting, adding that the people could no longer be hoodwinked by ‘these elements’. He said that the defeated elements would not be successful in the general elections.—Online
