Wildcard for Amjad

ISLAMABAD, Feb 14: Amjad Khan has been given a wildcard for the main round of next month’s Pakistan Open in Lahore, a top squash official said Thursday.

Sqd Ldr, Sajid Waheed, secretary of the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) told Dawn that Amjad, world ranked 64, was being given another chance to prove that he is capable of coming back.

“He is a good player and we do not want to dump him and that is why we have given him the wildcard.”

“Amjad is quite fit but still needs to get back into that winning groove and Pakistan Open is a good opportunity for him to do that.”

While Amjad will compete directly in the main round of the Open starting from March 20, another eight players would be given wildcards for the qualifying round.

Meanwhile the Pakistan Open will be supervised by two neutral and six local referees.
