ISLAMABAD, Oct 20: The directorate of health services of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has confirmed that dengue fever has not yet spread in the federal capital.

Director Health Services Saeed Ahmed told PPI that though the virus had not surfaced in Islamabad, yet it was necessary for the residents to take preventive measures.

He appealed to the residents, especially those living in slums, to fill up depression in their areas. Those sleeping in the open must use mosquito net and anti-malaria tablets at least once a week.

Mr Ahmed said people should keep covered items like water bottles, water tanks and eatables to avoid contamination.

He also advised them to cover there body and use mosquito repellents, specially at dawn and dusk.

The CDA has decided to divide Islamabad city into 14 zones for fumigation to prevent any possible spread of dengue fever. It has also been planned to put phenolphthalein in the 35 big drains and 22 tributaries stop breeding of mosquitoes.—PPI
