ISLAMABAD, Oct 18: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) deputy parliamentary leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmed has held President Gen Pervez Musharraf responsible for all the criticism that was going against the armed forces.

Talking to Dawn on Wednesday, he said Information Minister Mohammad Ali Durrani, instead of threatening the critics of army, should go and ask Gen Musharraf to remove the army chief’s uniform before going in the PML public rallies and seeking votes for it. “If Gen Musharraf will continue his tirade against his political opponents while in uniform he will be inviting criticism as reaction for the army which was backing him in his wrongdoings.”

The general, he said, would have to face scathing criticism from all around for his deliberate defaming of the institution of army by going back on his promise of relinquishing COAS office by appointed date. He said: “When Durrani says any criticism against army was intolerable he must understand that he was tolerating Gen Musharraf in the army chief’s uniform.”
