Robbers shoot retired major

SIALKOT, Oct 17: A retired female army Major and another person were killed on resistance while criminals took away two more cars, a motorcycle, cash, ornaments and other valuables in different parts of the district on Monday evening.

Two armed dacoits were looting passersby on Lodharey-Dhamtal Road near Uggoki. In the meantime, a Jalalpur Jattan-based retired female army Major Mrs Zareena and her husband Mohsin Ashraf, who were on their way home, reached there.

The robbers signaled them to stop, but they pushed up the speed instead. At this, the robbers opened fire on them, killing Mrs Zareena on the spot. Later, robbers-cum-killers escaped while firing in the air. She was laid to rest in her native graveyard in Jalalpur Jattan. Uggoki police have registered a case.

Two gunmen shot dead trader Abdul Rehman (38) on offering resistance during a dacoity in Mujahid Road locality. The deceased was the father of three minor children.

Naikapura police have instituted a case with no arrest.

In Nasir Road locality, thieves took away the car (LZU-3491) of local trader Muhammad Tahir Rasheed. In Model Town, the car (STN-9415) of exporter Mian Muhammad Anwar was taken away by thieves.

Two armed bandits snatched Rs225,000 in cash from exporter Mazhar Islam Sethi in Nishat Park area. Swindlers deprived expatriate Abdul Waheed of Rs0.5 million in cash by giving him some sedative dates at iftar timing in a bus. He was coming to Sialkot from Lahore airport.

Two gunmen snatched a motorcycle (STS-1690) and thousands of rupees in cash from trader Shehbaz Baig in Uchiyaan Kharoliyaan village, Motra.

Thieves stole ornaments, cash and other valuables from the house of Kuwait-returned trader Muhammad Yaseen on Jamkey Road locality in Daska. He is the younger brother of the Daska THQ Hospital MS.
