KARACHI, Oct 16: Brisk shipping activity was observed at the port where five ships scheduled to load and offload containers, rice, chemicals and diesel oil were allotted berths at various terminals during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release here on Monday.

A total of 11 ships -- ACX Levender, KOU Chang, Sinar Bontang, Poineer Spirit, Pacific Jade, Sargodha, Advantage, Al-Maqwa, DD Master, Kvarven and Capt George-L -- are currently occupying berths to load and offload containers, rice, edible oil, wheat, diesel oil, chemicals, sugar and iron ore.

A cargo volume of 0.120 million tons comprising 0.096 million tons imports and 0.024 million tons exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 2,873 (TEUs) was handled.

Two ships, MSC Eleonora and Sargodha, sailed out, while Sinar Bontang, KOU Chang, ACX Levender and Al-Maqwa are expected to sail on Monday. Three ships, Sealand Independence, CSAV Ningbo and Arctic Gas, are expected to take berths on Monday.

Container ships MSC Austria, Deila and Mega-II are due to arrive on Monday, while ACX Plumeria and Serife are due to arrive on Tuesday.

Arctic Gas, M.M. Galveston, Brigen, Wai Mea, Moon Vazs, with LPG, edible oil, chemicals, coal and sugar, are currently at outer anchorage.
