TAXILA, Oct 15: Four members of a family were killed and another was injured, while a minor girl remained unhurt in a head on collision between a Suzuki van and a truck on Taxila-Hattar road about five kilometres from here.

Murad Bhatti, a former employee of Heavy Mechanical Industries Taxila, was going to Hattar industrial estate in a Suzuki van (CH-7001) along with his family members when a truck (AKA-8186) coming from the opposite direction hit the van while overtaking another truck.

As a result, Murad Bhatti, his daughter Shagufta, daughter- in-law Nuzhat, and nephew Dildar died on the spot, while his son Ahsan, 17, was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.

However, the six-year-old daughter of Murad, Mehak, miraculously remained unhurt. According to witnesses, the drivers of the two trucks were speeding in a bid to overtake each other.
