KARACHI, Oct 15: Bandits took away at least 73 cellphones and 17 vehicles from different parts of the city on Sunday.

According to police sources, complainants reported snatching of 35 mobile phones by armed men in various parts of the city, while 31 mobile phones were reported stolen on Sunday. Sources said that at least seven cellphones were reported missing on Friday.

Meanwhile, bandits took away 17 vehicles from different parts of the city on Sunday. Police said that armed men snatched three cars while the same number of cars was reportedly stolen.

On the other hand armed bandits snatched four motorcycles from different parts of the city.

ROBBED: An expatriate returning from the United Kingdom was robbed of cash and jewelry by bandits in F.B. Area early Sunday morning.

Police said that Amir Irshad along with his family was returning to his relative’s house in Block 12 F.B. Area, when two armed persons on a motorcycle intercepted them.

After taking the family hostage at gunpoint the bandits deprived them of foreign and local currency.

It may be pertinent to mention here that a large number of expatriates returning to celebrate Eid with their families are often robbed by bandits especially in the morning hours.

Previous year a large number of similar incidents had occurred close to Eid.
