Naib nazim briefed on USAID project

SIALKOT, Oct 11: A USAID team on Wednesday briefed district naib-nazim Rana Ejaz Ahmad on `District That Work’ project to be shortly launched by the agency in Sialkot

Led by Project Director Michael Sinclair, the team also included Technical Advisor Scott Gibbons.

Later, at a meeting with the female members of the district council and UC nazims here, the USAID officials said the DTW project would help enhance the capacity building of several district government departments, improving their mutual working relationship, and efficiency. The project would be carried out in collaboration with the National Reconstruction Bureau (NRB) and the district government.

Highlighting various aspects of the project, Mr Sinclair and Mr Gibbons said the USAID officials would provide the direly-needed training and technical assistance to the officials concerned of these departments, especially in education, finance, planning and health sectors.

They said under the project the officials concerned would be trained in performance-based, result-oriented budgeting and financial management, particularly with respect to multi-year capital budgeting, strengthening their administrative and information capacities.

It would enhance their ability to collect and anaylse the information necessary for better monitoring.

They said the project would also help strengthen the District Councils’ ability to play their assigned roles in district governanace, including communication with their constituencies.
