SAHIWAL, Oct 9: The DHQ hospital is facing an acute shortage of drinking water after failure of its three supply schemes which is causing a great deal of inconvenience to the people, it is learnt here.

The paramedical school of the hospital has been supplied with water from the main reservoir after suspension of its scheme over a decade ago. The provincial health department is least bothered about its restoration.

Another reservoir supplying water to residences of medical officers and the staff colony has not been functional for the last few weeks after breakdown of its electric motor.

The reservoir of nursing public health school is supplying water mixed with sand owing to defective digging of the pipe. After closure of the three water supply sources, the DHQ hospital is now relying on the main reservoir. This source is insufficient to meet the supply demand of the entire hospital.

People have demanded suspension of the respective authorities of the buildings department, besides holding of an inquiry in this regard.
