Rs5.4m given for flood protection

LAKKI MARWAT, Oct 4: At the request of MPA Zafrullah Khan Marwat, the NWFP government has released Rs5.4 million for construction of flood-protection dykes in Lakki Marwat district.

Informed source said on Tuesday that MPA Zafrullah Khan Marwat called on Chief Minister Mohammad Akram Khan Durrani in Peshawar and informed him about large-scale loses inflicted by floodwaters every year in the district.

The chief minister directed flood protection programme officials to release a fund of Rs5.4 million for erecting concrete spurs/dykes in different localities of Lakki district.

It is learnt that out of the total fund the authorities have allocated Rs2 million for building the dykes in Dallokhel, Rs1.3million for Behramkhel and Rs2.1 million for Landi Mir Salam localities.
