FAISALABAD, Oct 4: Thekariwala police have failed to find any clue to the killers of two minor girls. It is learnt that the police have taken the aunt and uncle of the deceased girls into custody when snifer dogs led them to their house.
Ayesha (9) of Chak 37 (Gardana) was on her way home when some unidentified men had kidnapped and killed her. Her family searched her everywhere but they recovered her dead in a sugarcane field.
Her body had marks of rope on the neck and police believed that Shazia was strangled.
It may be mentioned that some two weeks ago Laraib (6), Ayesha’s cousin, had also met the same fate. The postmortem report did not confirm that Ayesha was raped before being killed.
Snifer dogs were also used to resolve this mystery, but the police were still clueless about the killers. It was learnt that the aggrieved family arranged the trained dogs to reach the murderers due to the lethargic attitude of the police.
Sources said the police took the uncle and the aunt of Ayesha into custody as dogs led the investigators to their house.
Accused Najma Bibi was handed over to the women police station for investigation, they said. However, the victim party was of the view that Mushtaq and his wife had nothing to do with these murders, but the police insisted on investigation.
Police investigating officers are of the view that some ‘amal’ might be behind the murder of the two girls as several precedents are available when issueless women in the past have committed such crime.
Thekariwala SHO Ijaz Masood believed that some relative were involved in the incident. He confirmed the detention of Mushtaq and his wife Najma.
However, he denied that that they were taken into custody on the lead provided by snifer dogs.
