PESHAWAR, Oct 3: Additional district and sessions judge Khwaja Wajeehuddin here on Tuesday convicted a woman of drug trafficking and sentenced her to 14-year imprisonment with Rs50,000 fine.

Police arrested the accused, Hussan Pari, at the Peshawar Cantonment railway station on Sept 29, 2005, and found 4kg of charas in her possession.

The accused, who was on bail, was taken into custody after pronouncement of the verdict.

The defence counsel contended that the accused had been falsely implicated in the case and the seized contraband did not belong to her.—Bureau
