PESHAWAR, Oct 3: Provincial Minister for Information Asif Iqbal Daudzai said on Tuesday the NWFP government was making serious efforts to develop the province and to solve the problems of the poor.

Talking to various delegations which met him in his office, he said supply of flour on subsidised rates had already been started under the Ramazan package throughout the province and magistrates had been appointed in all districts to monitor prices of essential commodities.

The DCOs and TMOs, he said, had been given special powers to proceed against hoarders and profiteers under the relevant law. He said anybody could approach the authorities concerned if he had a complaint of overcharging.

He said the provincial government was aware of the problems of the people and was taking practical steps to solve them. He also highlighted the measures taken by the government to develop the province particularly the backward areas and said developmental schemes carried out by the MMA government had no parallel in the past.—APP
