PESHAWAR, Oct 2: Four members of a family were killed and as many injured when roof of their home caved in in Gharibabad No-2 locality of Pahari Pura late on Sunday night.

Those killed were Abdul Qayyum and his three daughters Resham, Marium and Rajmeena. Qayyum’s son Faisal and another daughter Benazira, his mother Anwara and brother Waseem were injured and admitted to the Lady Reading Hospital.

Police officials said that Qayyum was repairing main beam of his room and had given support to the roof with wood-logs. But late on Sunday when the inmate were preparing themselves for sleep, the wood-logs could not sustain the weight of the roof and as a result it collapsed.

ANP MEMBERSHIP: The Awami National Party has decided to give membership only to ideological workers.

In a meeting of the NWFP women’s wing of the party on Monday, its provincial coordinator Zahira Khattak said women would receive membership forms from the party’s union council presidents.

She said the ANP was at the forefront of the struggle for provincial autonomy and giving the Pukhtuns their due status in the society.

She said it was of paramount importance to bring more women into politics to solve the problems faced by them.
