SUKKUR, Oct 2: Police on Monday failed to recover Satish Kumar kidnapped by armed men from Daharki town some six months ago.

Suresh Kumar, brother of Satish Kumar, told newsmen that the kidnappers had released a video film of Satish Kumar demanding Rs800,000 from them as ransom.

He said that they were poor and could not pay such huge amount to kidnappers.

He said that they had told police about videotape but they were not showing any interest to recover his brother.

The Daharki police terming the kidnapping of Satish Kumar a drama claimed that his relatives were behind the drama.

ARRESTED: A police constable of the Rohri police station was sent to lockup following the escape of an accused from his custody on Saturday night.

Accused Qurban Ali, son of Shafi Mohammad Rajput, a resident of New Yard Rohri, was arrested some two days back and an FIR 123/2006 was registered against him on the complaint of Abdul Wahab Mirani, a chowkidar of Hesco Godown.

Accused Qurban Ali broke the window of the lockup and escaped.

Rohri TPO Hashim Memon ordered to arrest and send police constable to lockup for his negligence.

He also ordered the police constable to rearrest the accused otherwise a case would be registered against him.
