English fans arrested

AMSTERDAM, Feb 13: Amsterdam police arrested four England soccer fans on Wednesday for minor offences in the city centre ahead of their friendly match against the Netherlands.

“It’s just little incidents, nothing serious,” a spokesman said. The four were arrested for urinating in public and public drunkenness.

Some 10,000 England fans are expected to swarm into the city for the match, but only about 8,000 of them will hold tickets to the match at Amsterdam’s ArenA.

An extra 300 police officers will be on hand to monitor the fans in the city centre and around the stadium.—Reuters
