Custody of Scottish girl extended

Published October 1, 2006

LAHORE, Sept 30: A guardian court on Saturday granted extension in custody of Scottish girl Misbah Iram (Molly) till October 21.

Misbah is in her father Sajjad Ahmad’s custody.

The court extended the custody on the hearing of a petition through which Mr Ahmad requested that Misbah should be given in his custody. The court is yet to decide permanent custody and guardianship of Misbah who traveled to Pakistan leaving her mother Louise Ann Farley.

The court declined to suspend the proceedings in the case and rejected the objection of Ms Louise’s counsel that the Lahore High Court was proceeding on her writ petition and the subordinate court could not proceed when the writ petition was pending for adjudication.
