Expatriate shot dead by dacoits

GUJRANWALA, Feb 13: An expatriate was shot dead and his brother injured by dacoits during an abortive dacoity bid in Asghar Colony, Aroop, here on Wednesday.

Five armed men forced their entry into the house of Shahid Mahmood and held up the family at gunpoint. The intruders opened fire on the house owner and his brother, Imran, when they put up resistance. Mahmood died on the spot, while Imran sustained serious injuries. The injured was taken to the local Civil Hospital.

Shahid Mahmood had returned from Korea only a few months ago.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.

CRUSHED: A man was killed while his friend was injured in a road accident at Dhulley Chowk here on Wednesday.

Arif and Siddiq were going by a bicycle when a tractor-trolley hit them. Arif died on the spot while Siddiq sustained injuries. The injured was admitted to the Civil Hospital in critical condition.
