KARACHI, Sept 26: Residents of over 1,100 apartments of Gulistan-e-Jauhar’s Iqra Complex have demanded of the KWSB managing director to direct the officials concerned to restore their water connections without any further delay.

Expressing their indignation over severing of water connections, the Iqra Complex residents said even though they took possession of their apartments in July 2001, they had been receiving water bills since 1999.

Giving details of the circumstances that led to disconnection of water supply, they said that two water connections were provided to the Complex on the request of the builder in 2002 in order to meet water requirements of the allottees of 1,111 flats and 212 shops. Prior to the sanctioning of the two connections, the KWSB got a written undertaking from the builder that he would settle his outstanding dues within six months for acquiring a water connection in 1995, they added.

However, when the builder failed to honour his commitment, the KWSB severed the two connections instead of recovering water charges outstanding against him since 1995, they added.
