KARACHI, Sept 26: At least 26 vehicles and 39 cellphones were taken away by bandits in different parts of the city on Tuesday. Three cars and six motorcycles were snatched at gunpoint while four cars and 13 motorcycles were reported stolen.

Police sources said that 27 cellphones were snatched at gunpoint and 11 mobile phones were stolen while one cellphone was reported missing.

Meanwhile, a team of Anti-Car Lifting Cell arrested two car lifters and seized six stolen or snatched vehicles, including four cars and two trucks, and medicines from Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Tuesday, PPI adds.

On some information, the SSP ACLC Muzaffar Sheikh formed a team, headed by Syed Gazanfar Ali Kazmi, to conduct raid for recovery of vehicles in Gulistan-i-Jauhar. The team apprehended Sonu Bhayo alias Badar, son of Abdan Faqir, and recovered a car (AFE-127). His initial interrogation led to recovery of three other cars bearing registration numbers R-7702, V-6411 and ACC-741. These cars had been lifted from limits of Al-Falah, New Town and PIB Colony police stations.

The ACLC team with the help of a tracking company also seized a truck (JY-0214) loaded with medicines worth Rs1 million, which was snatched from the limits of Boat Basin police station. A suspect, Raja Aziz Khan, was arrested during the raid.

Another stolen truck with a fake number plate of KM-0661was also seized.
