TOBA TEK SINGH, Sept 25: The cattle and farmland of an unfortunate family, whose three members, including two women, were murdered about a week back, have reportedly been occupied by their servant.
Since only a 20-year-old girl, who too is mentally retarded, is the lone survivor, servant Malhoo Channar belonging to the same village found it a good opportunity to seize it.
Luqman Channar of the Baloch family had died some nine years back, leaving behind two daughters Mumtaz Bibi (22) and Shahnaz Bibi (20) and a widow.
They had a servant who was looking after their cattle and 12.5 acres of farmland. Having eyes on their farmland, cousins of Mumtaz Bibi proposed her repeatedly. But her mother turned down the proposals. This provoked her cousins and they started threatening the family with dire consequences.
Mumtaz Bibi and her mother had moved applications in a court and the police station few days before their murder in which they alleged that their relatives had not only taken away their fodder cutter machine but also planning to kill them to grab their land.
They also stated that in case they were murdered, their farmland should be donated to a religious seminary. (Rajana police had to hear both parties on the day they were killed.)
This further provoked accused cousins Muhammad Ali and Mansab, who along with their accomplice Shabbir, maternal cousin of accused Muhammad Ali, axed to death Mumtaz and her mother. They also killed Saiful Malook (70), uncle of Mumtaz Bibi, when he tried to rescue them.
Now Saiful Malook’s widow, also an issueless, is the only guardian to look after disabled Shahnaz.
During a visit to Chak 260-GB, Bureywala near Rajana, some farmers told this correspondent that servant Malhoo Channar was the real `informer’ of the accused.
They said his actual design was that after the murder of Mumtaz and her mother, the accused would be arrested providing him an opportunity to grab their farmland, the house and the cattle.
Schoolteacher Ansar Channar, claiming himself to be a relative of the deceased women, said that he would submit an application to the Rajana police to get back the farmland and cattle from the servant.
He, however, suspected that the servant might have prepared fake documents of the property.
He disclosed that his biradari had decided that all the property of the deceased woman and her daughter would be donated to a religious seminary according to their will.
Ansar could not tell who would look after the disabled girl. However, he said that Shahnaz was in safe hands of the widow of her uncle.
He also claimed that Mumtaz Bibi’s two cousins — Ali Sher and Mulazim Hussain — were wrongly implicated in the FIR. He said that complainant Manzoor would soon give his written statement to the police to get their names deleted from the FIR.
