ABBOTTABAD: Four PSC members elected

ABBOTTABAD, Sept 24: The Abbottabad District Council elected four members for the Public Safety Commission here on Saturday.

The election was conducted with the district and sessions judge acting as the presiding officer.

Of the four candidates, two seats were won by the treasury group, while one seat was bagged by the opposition group. The woman seat was decided through toss.

Those who won the seats included Shaukat Haroon, who polled 28 votes, followed by Saeed Mughal with 24 votes and Raja Mubeenul Haq with 19 votes.

The woman seat was won by Ruqiya Khwaja through toss.

Almost all members of the district council participated in the election.

REHABLITATION CENTRE: A centre for rehabilitation of people affected by earthquake was set up in Batagram district on Saturday.

The centre, set up by a tobacco company in Hazara, will work for three years and, initially, will train local staff.

The company will provide doctors and technical staff to work there. The MD of the tobacco company also announced four scholarships for the local people who would be provided training in rehabilitation of the quake survivors.
