KARACHI, Sept 23: A meeting of the Karachi Union of Journalists, Dawn unit, held here on Saturday paid tribute to the late journalist and author, Lateef Jafri, who served Dawn for almost half a century.

Mr Jafri, a former sports editor of Dawn, died on Sept 4.

His book on the history of Pakistan’s Test Cricket earned him great appreciation. Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Ali Siddiqui, assistant editor of Dawn, praised Mr Jafri’s services as a journalist and especially referred to his keen sense of duty and interest in sports.

A resolution adopted on the occasion condoled the death of Mr Jafri, and lauded his services to journalism.

Fateha was offered for the departed soul. The meeting prayed to Almighty Allah to rest his soul in eternal peace and give the bereaved family courage to bear the loss.
