ATTOCK, Sept 22: Minister of State for Environment Malik Amin Aslam has said that the Chacch interchange will be built on Hazro section of Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway.
He was speaking at a public gathering after inaugurating work on a Rs10.25 million gas supply scheme in Saydan village, Hazro tehsil, on Friday.
The minister said the Chacch interchange with the project cost of Rs160 million would benefit about one million population of several villages of the tehsil.
He said though the project had been approved, still work was yet to be started. Considering the disappointment being felt by the masses, he said, the issue would be taken up with the National Highway Authority (NHA) and other quarters concerned.
Mr Aslam, who is also an MNA from NA-57 Attock, said the government was taking personal interest in the development of Attock district, particularly Chacch area of Hazro.
He highlighted various completed and ongoing uplift schemes which had improved the living standard of the local population.
Speaking on the occasion, notables of the area expressed their concern over the delay in Chacch interchange construction and asked the state minister to take note of the situation.
They warned that all affected villagers would stage protest and stop ongoing work on the motorway, if construction of the said interchange was not started within a month.
On the occasion, local people handed over their written consent offering their land for the interchange.
CASE FILED AGAINST TWO BROTHERS: Police have registered a case against two brothers for allegedly threatening and harassing women in Kamra Kalan village.
Karam Jan, widow of Dost Mohammad, told the police that two brothers Altaf and Iqbal, residents of the same village, had injured his son Hayat Mohammad with axes over some dispute. Later they entered her house and dragged her and other women, including her daughter-in-law, out of the house and harassed them.
Meanwhile, two persons were injured in road accident on Attock-Basal Road on Wednesday evening.
According to reports, two persons, Nasir Iqbal and Mirasab Khan, were riding on their motorcycle on Attock-Basal Road when a speeding wagon hit them. Both the injured men were shifted to the local hospital.
Police have registered a case against the accused driver Syed Azadar Hussain Shah.
BODY FOUND: Police have found the body of a Wapda employee Mohammad Ashraf from a deserted area in Jharikus village. The man had gone missing a few days ago.
Police assume that the man was kidnapped and later killed by some unknown persons who threw his body in the deserted place.
