NCHD suspends work in Bajaur

Published September 22, 2006

KHAR, Sept 21: The National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) suspended its activities in the Bajaur Agency after Tuesday’s bomb blast in which two female workers were wounded, sources said. One of the two injured workers died in hospital in Peshawar on Wednesday.

A worker of the NCHD said here on Thursday that they had received directives to suspend field activities and the office was likely to be closed in a few days.

He said that management staff of the NCHD would be shifted to Malakand. Political authorities had enhanced security and deployed Levy and Khasadars at the NCHD office.

The organisation has more than 500 male and female workers in health and education setors of the agency.
