BAHAWALPUR, Sept 20: Four condemned prisoners, including a man and his two sons, were hanged at the new central jail here on Wednesday morning. Taj Muhammad, his sons Imtiaz Ali and Abdul Ghani, and Taj’s brother Allah Ditta were handed down death sentence for killing Shan Muhammad and his four sons — Ashraf, Akram, Aslam and Asghar at Chak 534/R on Dec 13, 1993. They were murdered over a dispute of eight marla land.

The apex court had upheld the decision of the lower court. However, the president had deferred the execution twice on the mercy appeals of convicts that they were compromising with the aggrieved party.

After the execution, their bodies were handed over to their families.
