KARACHI: World Peace Day

KARACHI, Sept 20: The Karachi Women’s Peace Committee in collaboration with the Young Women Christian Association will organize a meeting of women NGOs to mark the World Peace Day at a local hotel on Thursday.

The objective of the meeting is to evaluate what needs to be done within individual societies as well as amongst nations to rid the world of animosities, injustice, conflicts, violence and wars as well as the global environment and poverty.

As many as 25 leading women NGOs involved in the development sector will participate in the programme.

Six NGOs will make their presentation on the state of international judicial system, international agencies as effective peacekeepers, environment mismanagement, interfaith harmony, poverty and their impact on individual nations and the global order.

Justice (R) Majida Rizvi, Rasheeda Patel, Anis Haroon, Charmine Hidayatullah, Nuzhat William and Nargis Rahman will also speak on the occasion.—PPI
