Sports channel to be launched on Sept 30

KARACHI, Sept 19: Pakistan’s first dedicated sports television channel will be launched on Sept 30, a leading media group in the country announced on Tuesday. The representatives of the Geo Television Network, addressing a crowded press conference at the Karachi Press Club, said the sports channel will be providing live coverage to all the major sporting events during their round-the-clock transmission.

They further announced that the channel, Geo Sports, has already bagged exclusive TV rights for the Cricket World Cup 2007, to be held in the West Indies in March-April, as well as the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy which begins in India from Oct 7.—Agencies
