LAHORE, Sept 17: A fine century by Sana Javed and equally superb bowling by Khurshid Jabeen enabled Pakistan annihilate Hong Kong by 230 runs in the first match of the Asian qualifying round for the Women’s World Cup at the Qadhafi Stadium on Sunday.

Right-hander Sana struck 117 as Pakistan rattled up 292 for four in 50 overs.

Hong Kong, in response, crashed to 62 all out in 32 overs with slow left-armer Khurshid picking up four wickets for 15 runs in eight overs.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first on a flat wicket, Pakistan lost opener Taskeen Qadeer for four.

But Sajida Shah (53 off 77 balls with eight fours) then joined skipper Urooj Mumtaz (11) in a second-wicket stand of 67.

After Urooj was dismissed, Sana Javed stole the limelight in her breathtaking 102-ball innings during which she struck 21 boundaries.

Hong Kong lacked control in their bowling and conceded no less than 62 runs in extras, including as many as 45 wides.
