School devoid of basic facilities

Published September 18, 2006

SADIQABAD, Sept 17: The Government Tameer-i-Millat High School constructed some 45 years ago in the centre of the city lacks basic amenities.

Its main gate and the boundary wall were demolished some six months ago to provide land for the expansion of Club Road. Now the school presents a picture of some ruined ancient building.

The school has insufficient classrooms. There is no science or a computer lab, no room for the headmaster’s office, no examination hall, no staff room and even no drinking water facility.

The chairs are inadequate to cater to the needs of 40 staff members. Electric fittings are also outdated and need replacement to avoid any mishap.

According to experts, a grant of Rs5 million was needed to provide all basic amenities to the school.

Senior headmaster Rana Khalid Mahmood and his staff claimed the school had been showing excellent results for the last five years. They claimed the class 5 result was cent per cent and that of the secondary classes 85 per cent.

They hoped the authorities concerned would solve these problems at the earliest.
