Robbers kill man, snatch 8.5kg gold

LAHORE, Sept 15: Two robbers shot dead a Sargodha-based gold trader and injured his nephew and managed their escape with 8.5 kilo gold worth Rs10 million in Gulberg here on Friday evening.

Police said Irfan (40) used to visit Lahore for business. On Friday, he was in Lahore along with his nephew Zulfikar. He collected gold from different areas and left Latif Plaza in Ichhra on a rickshaw. They were stuck in a traffic mess near Muslim Town Morr and decided to reach the bus terminal on foot. When they reached near Rescue 1122 Office, two motorists intercepted them. When Irfan resisted, the robbers fired at him and escaped with gold. Irfan died on way to hospital. — Reporter
